The Last of Us Season 2 Gets 16 Emmy Awards Nominations

The second season of HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation to TV has earned 16 nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards.
Despite a controversial final episode — especially for fans of the video game — the set of seven episodes impressed Television Academy voters enough to nominate the season 16 times. That’s eight fewer nominations than the first season received, but it will likely still go down as a success for HBO.
The Last of Us season two has been nominated in the following categories:
- Best Drama Series
- Best Actor in a Drama Series (Pedro Pascal)
- Best Actress in a Drama Series (Bella Ramsey)
- Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series (Joe Pantoliano + Jeffrey Wright)
- Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series (Kaitlyn Dever + Catherine O’Hara)
- Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program
- Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series
- Outstanding Picture Editing for a Drama Series
- Outstanding Contemporary Makeup
- Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup
- Outstanding Music Supervision
- Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series
- Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama
- Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama
- Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or Movie
More seasons of The Last of Us from HBO are confirmed to be coming, which will focus on Abby’s experiences from The Last of Us 2. However, Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross recently announced they’re stepping away from the TV show to focus on Naughty Dog games in the case of the former, and other projects for the latter.
