Power-up your experience in Astro Bot.

One memorable aspect of the game is its boss designs, creating engaging and cinematic battles utilizing what the player has learned from previous power-up collections and saving your robo-buddies. These are the toughest boss fights in the game where everything that the player has learned is tested.

Djinny of the Lamp Sand Battle

Genie Out of a Bottle

Astro Bot Sand Djinn Boss mid battle throwing enemy

Magic meets Science in this battle as Djinny sends his minions’ skulls at poor little Astro Bot. The skulls move pretty fast, so at first the boss can seem very intimidating. However, keeping a consistent line of running and timing your charge to hit the gold skull he uses to knock his block off will win the battle. The player must also defeat some smaller minions who can gang up on Astro quickly, but charging into his head when he falls once more will earn the player a well-fought victory.

Blunder Jaw

Jurassic Bark Worse Than Its Bite

Astro Bot Blunder Jaw boss battle mid attack

In this very cinematic battle, Astro fights a Power Rangers-esque robo T-rex looking to feast on the little bot. For players not familiar with Call of Duty, aiming can be a bit difficult to hit the stampeding monster. However, learning the movement and trajectory of the shots, the player must hit weka spots on the dino and the enemies flying from his big extinct mouth. A thrilling and potentially difficult battle adding some nice variety to Astro’s charming adventure.

Captain Shortfuse

Eye-Popping For The Win

Astro Bot Captain Shortfuse boss battle attack

Another boss whose intimidation factor can lead to some game over screens. Captain Shortfuse can make players struggle due to the large, difficult-to-dodge flamethrower covering half of Astro’s dodging room.

Ahoy! It’s time to set sail with these treasured games that’ll make you feel like a pirate!

The risk of falling into burning lava at any time doesn’t help matters either. Astro must use the volcanoes on the stage to blast straight into the Captain’s exposed eyes, and thankfully it only takes three launches to win the battle.

7

Lady Venomara

Toxic Personality

Astro Bot Lady Venomora boss battle tail attack

Boy is this snake upset. Lady Venomara really does not wait for the player, throwing her offspring, her head, her venom, and her tail at you in unrelenting succession. Players can get overwhelmed by these attack patterns until they learn them, and much like the Captain, her attacks take up a large portion of the available dodging ground. Luckily, Astro has a chicken to keep him airbourne, and after getting used to her attacks, Astro can come out on top.

6

Wako Tako

Punching In, Punching Out

Astro Bot Wako Tako Boss mid attack battle

Feeling more like a Punch-Out fighter than a platformer boss, Wako Tako is difficult due to the endless volley of large punches they dish out and the speed their attacks come at Astro. If the player isn’t positioned correctly, the opportunity to fight back is missed as Astro has to hit icons on the back of Wako’s fists.

Prepare to accept defeat with these top boss battles players have no chance of winning.

Even after the punching phase, the fight turns into a platforming one with waves crashing against the player and spiked balls raining from the sky. Once players learn where to position themselves for a chance to strike, the fight becomes much easier, but certainly one of the more heart-racing bosses in Astro Bot.

5

Djinny of the Lamp Ice Battle

Guess Who’s Back?

Astro Bot Djinni Boss ice battle mid attack

The Genie Djinny returns with a vengeance for this cold version of the previous bout. They learned some new tricks too. More missiles, more enemies, more electricity and an icy platform make this battle much more for the player to wrap their head around. In the second phase of the match, Djinny summons four bells that can give Astro a headache. Luckily, Djinny did not learn their lesson about the gold skull, and players will use the same strategy to send it flying into the magic man’s head again and again.

4

Mighty Chewy

Donkey Kong But With A Metal Motif

Astro Bot Mighty Chewy boss battle throwing materials

Maybe the most menacing boss intro on this list, Mighty Chewy begins the battle splitting two buildings apart and screaming at Astro making it feel like victory is impossible. Luckily, he then swings away and lets Astro regroup. The battle still is far from over, as the player must dodge all kinds of building materials while getting to Donk…Mighty Chewy. After a succession of attacks from their massive arms, players must break their teeth and finally strike the weak point inside Mighty’s mouth.

3

Falcon McFly

An Airborne Assassination With No Room

Astro Bot Falcon McFly boss battle mid attack

Thankfully, Falcon chooses to let you rest on his belly rather than just roll you off, but that doesn’t mean this is not a tough sky battle. Mcfly has a large array of spread attacks, spraying bullets at you while you run across their body, hitting specific spots to deal damage. The idea of fighting on top of a moving boss while there are so many attacks to register can create havoc for the player. However, Falcon’s goofiness and refusal to simply spin you off him makes him less daunting than the next few bosses on this list.

2

Space Bully Nebula

The Final But Not Hardest Boss

Astro Bot Space Bully Nebula boss battle

The big bad boi himself, Nebula comes with an imposing array of attacks. This three phase fight begins with a shoot em’ up, flows into a roulette wheeled phase with five different attacks, and ends with destroying massive thrown items by targeting their weak spots with Playstation letter bullets. It’s a long fight with many phases, including one where luck can make it so much more difficult by launching up to twenty minions while you dodge a faux-lightsaber. By this point of the game however, players are well-trained to take on bosses and ready for the challenge, unlike the final boss on this list.

1

Mecha Leon

Become A Time God

Astro Bot Mecha Leon boss battle mid attack

The true final test for boss battles in Astro Bot is this anxiety-inducing chameleon-bot. This boss has powerful, fast, aggressive attacks and eventually begins demolishing the stage itself, creating a time limit for players to beat. Luckily, players are gifted with the broken ability to stop time, which is the only thing standing between Astro and endless game overs. Even with this powerful tool, players must time their time stopping perfectly to create windows of opportunity to damage Leon by jumping on speedy saw blades and his long tongue attacks. Winning this battle is a wonderful feeling, as the player can now call themselves master of time.
