Marvel Rivals is known to shake up the meta every now and then with a slew of balancing improvements and new team-ups. The most recent mid-season patch added Ultron as a new Strategist, as well as the Hellfire Gala: Arakko map, and an Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol mode. However, the hero balancing changes and a secret buff have people excited.
Luna Snow’s healing boost (+15%), Hawkeye’s new Ice Arrow, and The Punisher’s increased HP and damage (+25 HP, +5%) were some of the buffs in the mix. Storm and Jeff the Land Shark get new abilities, Shark Surge and It’s Jeff-nado!, while Thor and Jeff get controversial reworks that change their playstyles dramatically.
However, now Rivals has introduced a game-changing secret buff to a hero’s ability that can help teammates save the lives of their allies during gameplay. Here’s how it looks.
Marvel Rivals June 26 patch makes Mantis’ Illusions easier to spot for players
The recent update to Marvel Rivals, which allows players to ping Mantis’s Slumber Spore illusion, significantly improves team communication, particularly in the fast-paced bouts of this hero shooter. This update, which was introduced secretly in the June 25 patch along with balancing improvements and bug fixes, allows players to swiftly inform teammates to target the illusion, potentially reducing sleep duration and affecting match momentum.

Previously, detecting a teammate under the sleep effect needed careful inspection because the illusion blended into the chaotic battlefield, especially on the Arakko map’s mechanical fortress setting. The ping feature now allows an ally to label the illusion with a visible sign, making it easily recognized even during heavy battle.
This clarity minimizes reaction time, allowing teammates to focus on removing the illusion in order to awaken the sleeper. Destroying the illusion is crucial since a sleeping teammate is vulnerable to hostile attacks and faces elimination. If an ally pings and swiftly removes the illusion, the sleeper awakens, regaining control and maybe escaping a lethal strike. This split-second action can save lives, particularly in ranked matches where every player counts, increasing survival rates and changing combat outcomes.
