Trump Mobile’s T1 Phone Removes All Claims From Its Website That The Smartphone Is ‘Made In America’ And Is Now Replaced By The Terms ‘Proudly American’

President Donald Trump has long been a proponent of consumer electronics being manufactured in the United States, so much so that he even threatened Apple CEO Tim Cook with applying a 25 percent tariff on devices mass produced overseas. The current administration’s battle cry on producing goods in-house is so entrenched that Trump Mobile introduced the T1 Phone, a $499 phone that was continuously claimed to be made in America. Unfortunately, word quickly disseminated that the handset in question was actually of Chinese origin, prompting all evidence on the website mentioning anything remotely close to the device’s close ties with local manufacturing to be removed.
Even with the term ‘made in America’ removed from the press release, the T1 Phone’s launch details do have misleading details that hint the device was made locally
After a brief investigation, it was learned that the T1 Phone was actually a re-skinned version of the China-made REVVL 7 Pro 5G. What is even more appalling is that, according to AppleInsider, the retail price of this smartphone is $169, suggesting that it comes with low-tier specifications, but Trump Mobile is overcharging customers by stamping a hefty $499 sum on it. Additionally, the image of the smartphone is photoshopped, meaning that, for the time being, there is no way of knowing what the actual commercial unit looks like.
While we expect Trump Mobile to backtrack on its decision to call the T1 Phone ‘made in America,’ the company has yet to introduce extensive changes to its press release. Sure, any term indicating that the device was manufactured by U.S. labor is no longer present, but the details mention that the company is based in the United States, and Trump Mobile will be putting America first.
“Trump Mobile is going to change the game, we’re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service. Our company is based right here in the United States because we know it’s what our customers want and deserve.”
In short, it is clear that no matter how loud President Donald Trump screams about wanting production to shift to the local region, it is an impossible dream, with even Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stating that there is no universe in which companies like Apple would move iPhone manufacturing to the United States. What Trump Mobile should be focused on is offering consumers a device that is worth the $499 price tag it charges for the T1 Phone.
