The next major Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 update is about to enter Saber’s Private Test Server. Releasing to PTS players on June 4 on PC, the long-awaited Patch 8 will take a little longer to arrive for normal players.
Alongside some new cosmetics and other goodies, Patch 8’s biggest addition is the arrival of the epic new Siege Mode. A massively expanded take on Horde Mode gameplay, this new game mode will allow three players to fight an endless horde of Tyranids and Chaos forces, but with a twist.
Space Marine 2 Siege Mode is awesome
Just as was previously leaked by dataminers, Siege Mode will allow players to earn match currency that can then be used to buy reinforcements.
In Siege Mode, reinforcements can be used to call in a number of AI-controlled marines from Cadian soldiers all the way up to the most powerful friendly unit: the almighty Dreadnought. For comparison’s sake, a Cadian soldier costs 100 currency whereas a Dreadnought costs 1,500.
Additionally, the Siege Mode is significantly more complex than many players assumed it would be. Instead of placing players in just a single map, the location you fight in will change every five waves.

After fighting through the increasingly difficult waves, players will have to fall back to the elevator. “Every 5 waves, you’ll take the elevator to change sectors,” Saber Interactive explains.
While the Siege Mode joins the PTS server on June 4, standard players will have access to the mode on June 26. Just like all multiplayer modes and Operations, this new mode will be completely free for all players.
Alongside the new mode, Space Marine 2 Patch 8 will also add some additional paid DLC cosmetics in the form of the White Scars and Blood Angels chapters.
