What are the Best Weapons for Gustave and Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Gustave doesn’t ask for much; just a reliable weapon, and he’s good to go. In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, he brings solid attacking power and speed to the table, but not every weapon in his arsenal brings out the best in him. Whether you’ve just recruited him or he’s been in your party from the start, picking the right weapon for Gustave turns him into a dependable character.

Abysseram
Element: Physical
Abysseram is a weapon that really shines in early game, especially for characters like Gustave and Verso. It deals pure physical damage, so if you’re not into elemental stuff and just want something straightforward and tough, this weapon is right up your alley.

A small, undersized Bourgeon just wants to be like all the rest. Kill his brethren to help him achieve this goal.
If you’re all about making your character tough and able to take hits, Abysseram’s scaling in Vitality and Defense will definitely work in your favor. To get your hands on this weapon, you’ll need to defeat Bourgeon, who lurks around in the Flying Waters area. Once you take him down, Abysseram will drop, so getting it is pretty straightforward.

Cruleram
Element: Ice
Cruleram stands out right away because it’s one of the few weapons for Gustave and Verso that leans into Ice. So if you’re facing enemies that don’t like the cold, this can be a useful tool to keep on hand. You will notice that Cruleram scales with Defense and Luck, which is a bit unusual, especially since many weapons for Gustave favor things like Vitality or Agility.
Cruleram’s setup suits a defensive, reactive playstyle, where tankiness and maybe critical or situational effects tied to Luck could really pay off. You’ll find this weapon by finishing off an enemy named Cruler. This enemy is hanging out in the Flying Waters zone, just like the Bourgeon.
6
Gaulteram
Element: Earth
Gaulteram is an Earth-element weapon for Gustave (and Verso). It leans into Agility and Luck, which tells you right away that it’s not made for heavy hitters. Getting Gaulteram isn’t locked behind one single boss. You’ve actually got some options. You can beat a Bourgeon in the Overworld, just below the entrance to the Stone Wave Cliffs. Or you can go after a Gault in the Yellow Harvest region.

Review: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG that pushes the technical aspect of modern hardware to its limits.
If you like building around speed and a little randomness, Gaulteram can work for you. If you prefer tanky or brute force characters, you’ll probably want something else.
5
Sakaram
Element: Physical
Getting Sakaram is pretty straightforward. You’ll need to find and defeat a creature called Robust Sakapatate, who’s hanging out in the Ancient Sanctuary. Sakaram isn’t the kind of weapon that tries to be all things to all people. It does one thing well (physical damage), and if that fits your playstyle, it fits like a glove.
Now, what really makes Sakaram interesting is how it handles the Perfection mechanic. Most weapons reward you for keeping your Perfection Rank high by boosting your damage output. Sakaram doesn’t do that. In fact, it deliberately ignores Perfection-based damage bonuses. That sounds like a drawback, and in a way, it is. But it also has a hidden strength. You can keep your Perfection Rank even if you take a hit. So if you’re the kind of player who struggles with parries and perfect dodges, Sakaram actually gives you a bit of breathing room. You don’t lose momentum just because your timing wasn’t spot on.
4
Seeram
Element: Light Damage
If you’re building Gustave around speed and survivability, Seeram might be one to keep in your rotation. It deals light-element damage and scales with both Agility and Vitality. With Seeram, you will gain an extra point of Perfection with each move, which makes it easier to hit higher ranks faster. But the tradeoff is no matter what you do, you’re locked out of Rank S.
If you’re looking to grab Seeram, head to the Coastal Cave. After dealing with the Bruler and Cruler enemies, you’ll unlock access to a Cruler blacksmith who sells a level 12 version of the weapon for 21,275 Chroma.
3
Gesam
Element: Physical
If you’re playing as Gustave or even Verso and getting tired of enemies brushing off your Light-based skills, Gesam gives you a way around that. This weapon quietly swaps all of your Light damage into Physical, which sounds simple, but actually opens up a lot of flexibility when Light resistance starts popping up more often later in the game.
Gesam scales with Vitality and Agility, so if you’ve built Gustave around those stats, you’ll get solid mileage out of it. The coolest part is you won’t have to hunt down a boss or complete a quest to get Gesam. Just head to Flying Manor and check in with Fusoka. He sells a level 28 version of Gesam for 81,500 Chroma. It’s not cheap, but it’s a straight purchase with no strings attached.
2
Lanceram
Element: Physical
Lanceram is a physical weapon in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that’s designed with Gustave in mind. Lanceram deals physical damage, and for a weapon with such power, that physical punch is more than enough when paired with the right stats.

How to Defeat Chromatic Chalier in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Locked in the dark and dreary Sinister Cave, take down the Chromatic Chalier in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
This weapon scales with Vitality and Agility. This combination makes it perfect for a character who can stay on their feet longer and still move with a bit of sharpness. It’s not for players looking to rely on luck or brute force. If you want to get Lanceram, you’ll need to put down Chromatic Lancelier. This bad guy is found in the Grand Meadow, and once you bring them down, Lanceram drops.
1
Corpeso
Element: Fire
Corpeso is all about fire and pressure. It scales with Vitality and Agility, so it fits
party members
who are built to take hits and move quickly. If you’re using your Base Attacks consistently, Corpeso adds two stacks of Burn per Perfection Rank. That means the higher your Rank, the more Burn you’ll stack up with each swing.
Corpeso is found in the Dark Shores, and if you haven’t unlocked Esquie’s swim or fly ability yet, you’re not getting there. The enemies that drop it are the Noir types, and you’ll probably have to clear that area a few times before it shows up.
