XeSS 2 Now Available in More Games, Get Up to a 4x Boost in FPS!

XeSS 2 boldly pushes this further with the addition of gameplay-smoothing AI-based frame generation (XeSS-FG) and reduced lag with low latency (XeLL) technologies. Intel’s game engineering team recently released the XeSS 2 SDK to enable quick and easy integration by developers, and adoption is picking up with 19 games now offering the new suite of technologies.
In nearly a dozen fan-favorite games tested on the Intel Arc B580, XeSS 2 can be seen at work, drastically increasing baseline FPS performance and consistency to deliver more frames for a smoother gaming experience. From the hugely popular Diablo IV, experiencing a 4x increase, to the brand-new Assassin’s Creed Shadows, getting a 2.4x increase in FPS.
Want to experience better gaming on-the-go? Not to worry, the greatness of XeSS 2 is also available on select Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) with built-in Intel Arc GPUs! Tested using the same games as above, an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H with built-in Intel Arc 140T GPU hits 40+ FPS across the board, with many titles easily surpassing 60 FPS. Notably, Marvel Rivals at high settings sees an uplift of 187%, from 23 FPS at native settings to 66 FPS with XeSS 2 enabled.

To go with added gameplay fluidity, Xe Low Latency (or XeLL for short) is also a part of the XeSS 2 arsenal to increase responsiveness and make you feel more connected to the game. Across three fast-paced titles that we tested, there was an average of 45% reduced latency so that every strafe, snipe and steering action you take is reflected faster on screen—especially handy for multiplayer games where every millisecond counts.
Datapoints and numbers are one thing, but what does it look like in action? Below, you can see XeSS 2 in action with an Intel Arc B580 graphics card in Ubisoft’s newest game: Assassin’s Creed Shadows, offering massive gains in FPS and improved gameplay fluidity, plus next-level reaction.
Intel partnered with Ubisoft early to integrate the full feature set of XeSS 2 into Assassin’s Creed Shadows. In this process, the development team was thoroughly impressed by the technical advancements of XeSS 2, stating:
“XeSS 2 delivers an outstanding visual enhancement in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, offering sharp image quality and smooth performance that rivals native resolution. Its advanced AI-based upscaling and temporal reconstruction make it one of the most effective solutions available today on both PC and handhelds,” said Nicolas Lopez, Rendering Technical Architect (Anvil Engine),” said Nicolas Lopez, Rendering Technical Architect (Anvil Engine).
XeSS 2 adoption is accelerating. Stay tuned for more!
