Legion Outer Rim Battles Terrain Pack Review & Assembly
I was lucky enough to score the Advance badge at Adepticon 2025 this year, and got a box of the Outer Rim Battles Terrain Pack. With May the 4th right around the corner, I wanted to highlight the overlooked part of most wargaming tables – the little terrain pieces.
Unboxing
The first, and most noticeable thing, about the expansion pack is that the box is big and the contents are not. I was surprised with how little terrain was in the box, especially compared to Star Wars: Shatterpoint and Marvel: Crisis Protocol terrain packs at the same or near MSRP price point ($59.99). The second thing that I found surprising is that the box art doesn’t show how much terrain is included. It’s a series of walls instead of just the one as shown on the box art.
The centerpiece of the terrain set is the remaining corner of some poor building that didn’t survive the Imperial bombing. There are 6 wall corners; 3 of one orientation and 3 of a mirror orientation. There are 4 walls that can be aligned or glued with the wall corners. These can be free-standing, but they may not necessarily stand on your table (and certainly not if you bump the table). If you don’t glue the walls and wall corners, you can give yourself some flexibility with table layout for each game.
There are two piles of crates, and one has a fallen door. This is nice area terrain that doesn’t provide in the much in the way of cover, but larger enough to impede troops and ground vehicles.
Two energy/light towers are nice little pieces of scatter terrain, but provide no practical or tactical purpose. The mouse droids are a nice little detail, but I would recommend gluing them to the corner terrain or the piles, as they are likely to be lost on any play surface.
Despite the sprues’ size, there is actually a fair bit of terrain in here.
The absolute highlight of this entire set is the small camtono – the infamous Star Wars ice-cream maker! First appearing clutched in the arms of an escaping Bespin citizen in The Empire Strikes Back, it has been the source of many inside jokes for decades. The Mandalorian embraced it and actually elaborated on its lore, showing that it was, in fact, a secure transport container for the valuable beskar. So, whether you’re making ice cream and transporting illicit goods, you have a camtono to accent your Star Wars: Legion battlefield.

Assembly
There is almost no need to follow the instructions. The assembly is very simple and took about 10 minutes in total to put it all together. I did go the extra step to fill in the gaps on the walls with sprue goo, as this will make painting them easier and cleaner.
Those wall gaps will definitely show up while painting.
I also put the mouse droids, light poles, and camtono on separate bases ready for painting and priming – I use double sided tape and some extras bases which helps when it comes time to prime them.

I recently assembled some terrain for Star Wars: Shatterpoint, and found that the crates in this pack are slightly larger. So, I don’t think there would be any issue with utilizing this terrain for a game of Shatterpoint, if someone was so inclined. Having multiple games of use is not something you get with other terrain, either because of theme, or design, or scale.

Alright
Thematically-detailed terrain, and modular walls for cover, but a bit pricey for the amount of content in the box.
Pros
- Camtono!

- Can be used for Star Wars: Shatterpoint
- You always need walls for cover
Cons
- For the amount of plastic and area it covers on the table, the MSRP seems high.
- Wall pieces, unless glued, may fall down if free-standing on the table.
- To fill out a 6’x3′ table, you’d need at least two or three of these sets (in addition to other terrain)
