Ulalaka is the goddess of Spring in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and one of the eligible bachelorettes you can romance as the player, regardless of gender. She is one of the few healer-based characters in the game and a good early party addition with her Cure and Revive skills when maxed out. This guide serves as a walkthrough on how to romance Ulalaka, from friendship to dating and marriage.

Bond Quests

Living Up To The Title Of Chief

Requirements:

Go to the Spring Village’s Sacred Tree (9 am-3 pm)
Check Spring Village’s Empty House (9 am-3 pm)

Ulalaka will aid you in your first few tasks as chief, expressing interest in joining you on patrols and getting to know one another better. You will be tasked by Sakaki to check on abandoned structures and repair them for future villagers to use for shelter. After the evaluation, Ulalaka will repair the homes with her powers, ending the bonding quest until the next one at Bond Level 4.

Getting To Know Ulalaka 1 (Checking in with Ulalaka)

Requirements:

Reach Bond Level 4 with Ulalaka
Wait Until Tomorrow
Head to Iroha’s Teahouse

After reaching Bond Level 4, head to Iroha’s Teahouse at any time to begin the next cutscene of Ulalaka attempting to aid the villagers with many tasks and pains with her powers, yet being denied at each turn, causing the goddess to become crestfallen and wonder what she’s doing wrong. While your character understands why the villagers don’t want to abuse their goddess’s powers, they wonder if there are alternative ways she can be useful without her magic.

Getting To Know Ulalaka 2 (Farm Chores with Ulalaka)

Requirements

Reach Bond 5 with Ulalaka
Wait Until Tomorrow
Head to the Spring God Shrine (6 am – 3 pm)

This cutscene begins at the Spring God Shrine after you reach a Bond of level 5 with Ulalaka, where you two will have a heart-to-heart on her balancing being a goddess while also living as just herself. This leaves the goddess to ponder what she thinks living as just herself means to her.

Simply Live As Ulalaka

Ulalaka Bond Quest Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Requirements

Wait Until Tomorrow
Head to Spring Village (6 am – 9 am)
Head to Sakaki’s house (8 pm – 12 am)

Ulalaka will come to terms with how to live as herself and not just a goddess during these cutscenes regarding a monster that has been stealing food from the village. While Sakaki wants to simply exterminate the monsters, the goddess comes up with an idea to use strong-smelling flowers around the food storage areas to ward off the monsters peacefully instead. After the trap is sprung at night and the monsters leave with no further issue, Ulalaka is satisfied and tells your character how grateful she is for your help. After which, she will have some inner thoughts that indicate growing affection for the player.

Getting to Know Ulalaka 3 (Breathtaking Blossoms)

Requirements

Reach Bond Level 6 with Ulalaka
Advance the main story
Wait until tomorrow
Head to Iroha’s Teahouse (6 am – 10 pm)
Wait until tomorrow
Head to the Spring God Shrine (6 pm – 9 pm)

Advance the main story past the Winter Village to progress with Ulalaka’s Bond Quests, ensuring you are at least Bond Level 6 with her. Ulalaka wishes to host a grand feast for everyone in the village. Make sure you make it to the Shrine on time to experience the grand feast with Ulalaka and all she has invited to enjoy the festivities. Ulalaka is close to confessing to the player but shrugs it off, choosing to keep her thoughts to herself instead. Here is where her bond quests end; unless you decide to pursue her romantically, you’ll need to raise her Bond Level to 7 before you can take things a step further.

Confession to Ulalaka

Requirements

Reach Bond Level 7 with Ulalaka
Talk to Ulalaka and choose the “I love you!” option.

At first, Ulalaka will deny your feelings, believing that you’re only playing around before becoming convinced of your sincerity. However, she will ask you to give her a day to think things over. Finish your work for the day and sleep in the Spring Shrine to ensure you can make it to the meeting place on time.

Feelings for Ulalaka

Ulalaka Confession Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

Requirements:

Wait until the next day after confession
Meet at the Spring God Shrine at 6:00 PM
Choose the option: I want nothing else.
Choose nicknames for yourself and Ulalaka to address each other as.

You will enter a cutscene at the Spring God Shrine where Ulalaka will confirm her feelings for you, yet also express her unease about the gap between divinity and morality that exists between the two of you. Despite that, if you choose to accept her feelings in return, you will begin a relationship with her and unlock more bonding events for her romance.

Two Hearts

Requirements:

Wait until the next day after asking Ulalaka on a date.
Meet at the Sacred Tree at 12:00 PM

Your first date will start at the Sacred Tree before you move to the shopping district in the Summer Village, where you will browse matching items for yourself and Ulalaka, eventually settling on two amulets for one another. While Ulalaka is happy, she still harbors inner doubts, still worrying about her divinity and your character’s mortality affecting your future relationship with her.

Restless As The Waves

Requirements:

Reach Bond Level 8 with Ulalaka
Ask Ulalaka on a date and wait until the next day.
Meet at Iroha’s Teahouse at 12:00 PM

At first, Ulalaka and your character will have a date at Iroha’s Teahouse before she suggests that you two have a stay-at-home date instead to further deepen your relationship. Iroha will also note how mushy and lovey you two have been acting. However, at the shrine, your character will confront Ulalaka about her distance and have a minor argument before you both let it settle for now, agreeing to be more open to one another if they want this relationship to work.

An Unknown Destination

Requirements:

Reach Bond Level 9 with Ulalaka
Invite Ulalaka on a date and wait until the next day.
Meet at the Winter Village entrance at 3:00 PM

This is your final date with Ulalaka. Your character takes her to see the moon at the clearest point in the Winter region, where you deepen your relationship. Your character eases her fears of the gap between you two, helping Ulalaka finally come to terms with your relationship, being able to fully embrace the future with your character for the foreseeable future.

You will not be able to progress to other events during this scene, and the time will advance to 11:00 PM.

Marriage Proposal

After you max out your intimacy with Ulalaka and reach Bond Level 10, Woolby will gift you with a special Red Plum Sapling and Divine Spirit’s Recipe. Plant the Tree behind a Dragon Shrine of yours and wait for it to bloom, then craft the Divine Spirits like any other drink at a cooking station. Once you’re ready, invite Ulalaka to the Fateweaver Shrine to initiate the proposal.

Marriage Ceremony

A day after your proposal, you and your new spouse will receive congratulations on your wedding day throughout all the villages and go through a traditional ceremony where Rin will oversee the ceremony at the shrine and Woolby will help you end your vows. At the end, you will be able to update your nicknames to reflect your new marriage. You have now reached the end of this guide and have successfully romanced and married Ulalaka. As a bonus, you will receive the achievement: My marriage to Ulalaka.
